Jerry Allen Marshall passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018.

Jerry was born on April 10, 1945 in the beautiful farming community of Nickelsville, VA to Kyle and Mary Kate Compton Marshall. He graduated from Dungannon High School in 1963 and from the Tennessee Institute of Technology in 1973.

Jerry was a Vietnam-era veteran, who served in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Dyess Air Force base in Abilene, TX, where he met his wife Sylvia Minatra, and at Goose Bay Air Force base in Labrador, Canada. He was honorably discharged at the rank of staff sergeant.

After his service, Jerry and his wife moved to Lansing, MI and then to Knoxville, TN in 1970 where their 3 sons Scott, Steve & Jeff were later born.

He was a member of the Hardin Valley Church of Christ and had a lifelong faith in God. Jerry worked in electronic maintenance for Allied Signal, TRW and retired from Denso Manufacturing in 2011. He loved the simple pleasures of life, especially the outdoors, and spending time with his family.

Jerry cherished the many memories of growing up on a farm with 5 sisters and a brother in the beautiful and tranquil mountains of southwest Virginia. Throughout his life he returned often to the hills of Virginia to spend time with his family and reminisce about the "good ‘ole days." These trips were frequently filled with laughter of the fun times and included many walks in the woods where stories were shared of a treasured and loving childhood.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jimmy Marshall and his niece Diane Barris.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, sons: Scott (Jill) Marshall, Steve Marshall and Jeff Marshall, 3 grandchildren that he loved dearly: Ian Marshall, Olivia Marshall and Max Marshall; 5 sisters: Fern Barris, Gaynell Bridges, Jean Cureton, Judy (Bruce) Brewer, and Ann Cox; sister-in-law: Elaine Marshall; and several special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be held in the rotunda at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy on Friday, February 23rd at 2:00 pm with the burial to follow.
