NEW IBERIA – A native of Vicco, KY and longtime resident of New Iberia, Christine Sumner Davidson, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at her home.
Interment at Holy Family Cemetery on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 12:00 Noon.
Born on February 13, 1941 to the late Leonard and Bernice Combs Sumner.
Christine was one of five children. She was a kind and loving mother who enjoyed the simple life of country living. Christine was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was deeply dedicated to her family and cherished every moment spent with them.
She loved birds and cared for many throughout her lifetime. Her birds were her babies. Christine also had a green thumb. She would spend hours outside tending to her vegetables and flowers. Christine was a fan of Bluegrass music which connected her to her Kentucky roots. She will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Jimmy Davidson, Sr. and wife Dianna of New Iberia, Danny Davidson of New Iberia, Opal Smith and husband Mike of Butler, IN, and Darlene Breaux and husband Ricky of New Iberia; siblings, Rayford Sumner and wife Tammy of Hazard, KY, Vada Sandlin and husband Don of Burlington, IN, and Maxine Davis of Charleston, IN; twenty grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Davidson; sons, Charles E. Davidson and Donald Davidson; grandson, Donovan Davidson; parents, Leonard and Bernice Combs Sumner; and brother, George Sumner.
Pallbearers will be members and friends of the family.
