Jimmie Hardy Phillips
December 18, 1941 - February 19, 2018

NEW IBERIA – Funeral services celebrating the life of Jimmie Hardy Phillips will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Rev. Scott Bullock, Pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Jimmie will be laid to rest alongside his son Stacey at Holy Family Cemetery following services.

Jimmie was born in Haynesville, Louisiana December 18, 1941 to the late Benjamin "Doc" Phillips and Travis Sherman Phillips and passed away peacefully Monday, February 19 at Iberia Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Mr. Phillips proudly served his country as a member of the Louisiana Army National Guard. He has worked in the Oilfield all his life and retired from Texaco with many faithful years of service.

Outside of his work, he was a man who truly enjoyed the outdoors and took every advantage to spend time outside. He had a passion for hunting deer and duck, and loved to fish. Some of his best memories were the times he spent with his own father fishing. Jimmie also loved horses and rode when he had the time. Down time for Jimmie was sitting in his recliner and watching the outdoor channels. But his greatest joy was his family. The time spent with them was when he was most happy. He leaves behind a legacy of love and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Janis Bradford Phillips of New Iberia; his daughter and son-in-law, Tressie Phillips Coco and Lyn Coco of New Iberia; his grandchildren, Chaise and Cole Coco; a great granddaughter, Paisleigh Grace Coco; a great grandson expected soon, Kolten Dre' Coco; and his sister, Jerrie Webb of Baton Rouge.

He was preceded in death by his son, Stacey J. "Flash" Phillips; and his parents, Doc and Travis Phillips.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lynn, Chaise and Cole Coco, Brandon Landry, Chad Meyers, Devon and Dane Breaux, and Ben Webb. Honorary pallbearers are his best friends, Dr. Roger Boughton, Pat Terrell and Allen Sorrel.

Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
