Kenneth R. Hanson, 91 of Sioux City, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018 in Northfield Minnesota, surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Westlawn Presbyterian Church with Pastor Paul Speidel officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, February 23rd at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com

Kenneth was born on February 1, 1927 in Vermillion, South Dakota to George A. and Rebecca J. (Bursell) Hanson. He was raised in Sioux City. Kenneth worked in the sales department of Montgomery Wards for 33 years. He married Gladys M. Scott on July 29, 1948 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. The family had a cabin at Lake Kabetogama in Minnesota, where Kenneth enjoyed spending summers fishing, telling stories and spending time with family and friends. He loved entertaining kids (of all ages).

Kenneth is survived by his daughter Holly Nativig of Northfield, Minnesota; son Jerry (Jeanne Helling) Hanson of Dubuque, Iowa; and daughter Barbara Hanson of Tequesta, Florida; grandchildren Kendra (Steve) Martin, Jonathan (Eva Lugo) Nativg, Cody (April Cox) Wolter, Becca Wolter and her Fiancé Tom Ameche, Carter Hanson, Lisa (Nick) Kies, Allyson, Catherine, and Cole Awasthi; great-grandchildren Easton and Brennan Martin, Colson and Miranda Kies; sister Betty L. Desterhouse of Valley, Nebraska; former sons-in-law Dr. Deepak Awasthi and Oakleigh Natvig; and lifelong friends, the Boorman family of northern Minnesota.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gladys in 2015 after 66 years of marriage, son Kenneth Mark Hanson, and siblings Julia E. Vellinga, Robert L. Hanson, Richard J. Hanson, Clarence C. Hanson, Edward A. Hanson, and Delores M. Waisonen.
