Emma M. Hoffman, age 92, of Hutchinson, passed away Tuesday, January 23rd, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Winona, Minnesota.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 24th, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson with private family interment in the Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, March 23rd, 2018, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. and one hour before the service on Saturday- all at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson.
Emma Mary Hoffman was born on August 1, 1925, in Collins Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of John and Emma (Segler) Korson. Emma was baptized as an infant at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart, Minnesota, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart. She received her education at Country School in rural Brownton for eight years and then attended Brownton High School through grade 10.
On November 5, 1943, Emma was united in marriage to Herbert Hoffman at a Lutheran Chapel in Corpus Christi, Texas. This marriage was blessed with two children, Gary and Nancy. Emma and Herbert resided in Stewart for 12 years, before moving to Hutchinson in 1957. They shared 65 years of marriage together until Herbert passed away on April 16, 2009.
Emma owned and worked as a store clerk at Herb’s Fairway in Hutchinson. She also worked as a store clerk at West Side Grocery Store in Hutchinson until she retired in 1997. She will be remembered by many as “the lady at the little store that sold me candy and baseball cards”! Emma was a fixture at the store for many years, training each new owner. Emma was a longtime faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. She was a past member of the Rebekah’s Lodge.
Emma enjoyed fishing, playing card games, watching television, and manicuring her yard and gardens. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
Emma passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Winona, at the age of 92 years.
