Janie Whitfield Hicks, age 82 of Demorest, Georgia passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 at her residence.

A daughter of the late Ed and Ida Dooley Whitfield, she was born March 4, 1935 in Stephens County, Georgia having lived a greater part of her life in Cobb County and Habersham County. She owned and operated her own car wash business in Cobb County. She was a member of Habersham Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, John (J.T.) Hicks, Sr., of the home; a daughter, Janet Hicks and Bill Tyre of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, John T. Hicks, Jr. and wife Rosa of Demorest; four grandchildren, Kimberly, Holly, Jacob and Adam; six great-grandchildren, Kasidee, Weston, Ashlyn, Skye, Rayne and Theo; brother and sister-in-law, Walter (Buddy) and Eilene Whitfield of Kennesaw, Georgia.

Graveside services will be Thursday, February 22, 2018, 11 O’clock a.m. at Stephens Memorial Mausoleum with The Reverend Jerrell Beatty and The Reverend Kenneth McEntire officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Jacob Hicks, Adam Rudeseal, Adam Stewart, Chuck Bentley and Lamar Beck.
