Died at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 1980, at Baton Rouge General Hospital. He was 83, a resident of Baton Rouge for the past 40 years, and a native of West Monroe. He was retired from Chappell Bookkeeping and Tex Service and an Army veteran of World War I. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, from noon Wednesday until religious services at 2 p.m. Burial in Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe.

Survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen Jackson Chappell, Baton Rouge; a son, Judge B. G. Chappell, Key West, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Hilton Wilkerson, West Monroe, and Mrs. Cora Wright, Tyler, Texas; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was a Baptist.
