Carl August Steffen, aged [92] passed away at 2 a.m. today at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Schultz, 1611 Maryland avenue.

Mr. Steffen was born in Germany and came to America, directly to Sheboygan in 1881. He took part in military service in German [ ] during 1866 and 1870. After arriving in this city, he was employed at the local tannery and later at the Crocker Chair company.

In 1868, Mr. Steffen was united in marriage to Christine Jeske, who preceded him in death 30 years ago.

He was a charter member of Immanuel Lutheran church and was the oldest member of its congregation at the time of his death.

Survivors are: a daughter and three sons, Albert Steffen, Mrs. William Schultz, William and Herman Steffen, all of Sheboygan; fourteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three brothers, Julius of Milwaukee, August of Waukesha and Fred of Germany.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 pm. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Schultz 1611 Maryland avenue and at [ ] p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran. church. The Rev. Edward Krause will officiate and burial will be made in the Lutheran cemetery. The body can be viewed after 7 o'clock this evening.
