Charles Morris McClain, Sr., 94, of North Little Rock, passed away March 31, 2007. He was a retired superintendent with the Little Rock Municipal Water Works, and a US Army National Guard veteran. For many years Charles was an avid Bible student, deacon, and Sunday School teacher. His church memberships were in First Baptist Church of Little Rock, Immanuel Baptist Church of Little Rock, and First Baptist Church of Batesville, Arkansas.

Charles is survived by his wife Emma Sumrall McClain; sons, Dr. Charles McClain, Jr. and wife Patricia of Batesville, Robert Sumrall and wife Marilyn of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, George Alexander "Buddy" Sumrall (deceased); sister, Sally McClain Templemann of Little Rock; grandchildren, Dr. Charles McClain III and wife Stacy of Batesville, Lori McClain of Little Rock, David McClain and wife Carey of Little Rock, Julie McClain of Cleveland, OH, Jennie Beard and husband "J" of Maumelle, Tony Echols and wife Kim of Little Rock, Mark and Adam Sumrall of Austin, Texas, Billie June Rebler and husband T.J. of Richmond, Texas, John David Sumrall of Destin, FL; great grandchildren, Charlie and Zach McClain of Batesville, Jake McClain of Little Rock, Cody and Casey Echols of Little Rock.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Gaston Manning McClain and Ella McClain Brooks and wives, Verla Evelyn Bland McClain and Helen Hogue Echols McClain; brothers Clarence and Jack McClain.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, North Little Rock with Rev. Larry Seiferth and Dr. Don A. Nall officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 JFK Blvd, NLR (791-7400). Interment will be in the Roselawn Cemetery, Little Rock.
