Delmer C. Backues, age 84, of Belle passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at his residence.

Delmer was born on September 4, 1933, in rural Osage County, the son to the late George and Minnie (McKinney) Backues.

On June 15, 1957 he was united in marriage to Lillian Anna Ament. She preceded him in death on June 10, 1991.

Delmer retired from MoDOT after being employed for over 30 years. He was a lifelong area resident and attended the Church of Christ in Belle.

Delmer was a very hard worker and was happiest when he was busy. He enjoyed walking to keep in shape and working on tractors. Delmer liked going to Thresher and steam engine shows and like to participate. Delmer enjoyed classic country music and listening to the Grand Old Opry on the radio when he was younger. Most of all Delmer loved spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Delmer is survived by: two daughters, Geraldine “Gerrie” Flores of Belle and Kathy Seaton and her husband Mike of Dixon; two sons, Dave Backues and his Fiancé Lori Feltrop of Belle and Darryl Backues and his wife Mary of Farmington; twelve grandchildren, Tim Flores, Joann Ringeisen, Michael Seaton, Mitchel Seaton, Jared Backues, Cole Feltrop, Bethany Kirby, Justin Backues, Brandon Backues, Jake Backues, Davey Backues, and Zach Backues; eighteen great-grandchildren with one on the way; and one sister, Erma Jean Pendleton as well as many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents and spouse Delmer is preceded in death by two grandsons, Mike Flores and Seth Backues and one brother, Milford “Tuck” Backues.
