Valders, Wisconsin - Our beloved husband, father, "Pop" and friend, James William Ott, went to his heavenly home on Friday, Feb. 16th, 2018 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous and unselfish battle with prostate cancer.

James was born Dec. 27th, 1948, to Arlet and Evelyn (Busse) Ott. The only son, he grew up with four sisters on the family farm in Newtonburg until the age of ten. The family then moved to Valders. Jim attended Newtonburg Lutheran School, Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Valders High School with the class of 1967.

Jim met his future bride on a double date. He married Grace Loose on October 14th, 1967 (which solidified 67 as his most favorite number),at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Liberty. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this past fall.

Jim began working in the foundry at Brillion Iron Works in 1967. He became a truck driver for the company in 1973. Jim was proud to work for BIW and liked a clean rig. He achieved the milestones of 4 million miles of safe driving. He retired in 2008 after working over 41 years.

Jim's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Other joys included riding his 1967 Harley, driving his convertible, restoring his John Deere 60, hosting the "annual" party, attending monthly card club, collecting toy tractors, trains and cars and perusing eBay from his command center.

He served on Trinity Lutheran Church Council, School Board and other committees. His strong Christian faith sustained him through his illness.

Jim is Dad and "Pop" to four daughters, one son, 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Children are Jodi (Doug/Sticks) Schwalbe, Jennifer/Herbie (Robbie) Pankratz, Jessica (Dave) Jungbluth, James (Noelle) Ott, and Jeana (Josh) Hennen. Grandchildren: Samantha Ott and friend Matt Dirkmann; Tony Boardman and friend Heather Landrum and daughter Lily; Michael Pankratz and friend Jasmin Elliott and daughter Kennidy; Eli Schwalbe; Erika Schwalbe and friend Greyson Christel; Ally Jungbluth and friend Dalton Hoover; Caden James Jungbluth; Sean and Eric Pankratz; Ella Grace and Evan James Ott; and Jameson and Jocelyn Hennen.

He is further survived by his mother-in-law Lucinda Loose; sisters Elaine (Wayne) Petersen and CarolAnn Ott; sisters- and brother-in-laws: Bev (James) Tienor; Barb (Norb) Kratz; Bonnie O'Connell; Gordy (Jane) Loose; and Glenn Loose and friend Linda. Also surviving many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Wilmer Loose; sister Marlene Ott, sister and brother-in-law Yvonne (Ken) Netzer; brother-in-law Keith O'Connell.
