Born on January 19, 1941, in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late Robert Leston Sims and the late Evelyn Idell Hanna Sims. Mrs. Ackerman was a member of North Hampton Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family and going to the mountains.
Survivors include her daughter, Dee Powell of Manning; two sisters, Jimmie Faye Cannon of Georgetown and Runell Johnson (Frankie) of Georgetown; two brothers, Robert Sims (Cathy) of Georgetown and Ronald Sims (Eloise) of Georgetown; a numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 3 PM Monday, February 19, 2018 in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the graveside.
Ridgeway Funeral Home of Georgetown is in charge of the arrangements.
