U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Mount Union College, in 1900 and became successful in the Ohio newspaper business. He was editor of the Daily Leader, (1903-05), served on the staff of the Morning News, (1905-06) and was editor-publisher of the Daily Tribune, (1910-22). In 1925, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-ninth and Seventieth Congresses, serving until 1929, reelected to the Seventy-third, Seventy-fourth and Seventy-fifth Congresses, serving (1933-39). An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed his newspaper interests until his death at age 65.
