Betty was born on September 29, 1930 in Pickens County, GA to the late Ray Sterling Chastain and Ruby Grace Jones Chastain. Prior to her retirement, Betty was employed by North Georgia Electric for 32 years, many years as office manager. She was the oldest female member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was a long-time volunteer for Gordon Hospital Auxiliary and the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce. Betty was a loving wife and devoted mother.
Betty is survived by her husband of 67 years, Billy Erwin; two daughters, Connie Cogdell and her husband David, and Lindy Erwin; and one grandson, John Cogdell.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, February 16th at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Ronnie Wells and Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with Reverend Jason Parker officiating.
Pallbearers serving will be Scotty Kay, Billy Kay, Alan Walker, Mark Thornbrough, Randy Myers, and Scott Burnette.
