Melvin “Pop” Richard Carroll, 84, of Summerville, formerly of Daisytown, PA, husband of Iris Lee Carroll, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at Summerville Medical Center.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Mr. Carroll, Monday evening, February 19, 2018 at James A. Dyal Funeral Home from 5 to 7 o’clock. A service will follow at 7 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel. On Wednesday, February 21, 2018 a visitation will be held at Greenlee Bentleyville Funeral Home in Bentleyville, PA from 5 to 8 o’clock. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Greenlee Bentleyville Funeral Home Chapel in Bentleyville, PA at 11 o’clock followed by interment in Maple Creek Cemetery, Daisytown, PA.

Mr. Carroll was born February 20, 1933 in Beallsville, PA, son of the late Hobart Carroll and Lillian Amos Carroll. He served in the US Air Force and retired from Ulbrich Steel as a steel worker. Mr. Carroll was an avid bowler and sports enthusiast, being a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Mr. Carroll was a member of Miles Road Baptist Church, Summerville, SC and an active member of the Anchor Sunday School class. He was a previous member of Bentleyville United Methodist Church, Bentleyville, PA. Most of all, “Pops” enjoyed spending time with his family. Mel will be sorely missed and loved by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife; Iris Lee Carroll, two daughters and nine sons: Victoria Szczepkowski (Edward) of Sinking Spring, PA, Rodney Carroll (Deann) of Womelsdorf, PA, Daniel Carroll (Melissa) of Palmer, MA, Jamie Slepecki of Reading, PA , Ronald Slepecki (Kyong) of Anchorage, AK, Jeffrey Slepecki of Wallingford, CT, Brian Slepecki (Kelly) of North Charleston, SC, Billy Courson (Darlene) of Alma, GA, Bailey Courson (Wendy) of Summerville, SC, Bobby Courson of Blackshear, GA, and Calvin Courson of Alma, GA; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and two brothers and one sister: Earl Carroll of CT, Paul Carroll of PA and Jessie Ward (Sis) of AL. He was predeceased by one son: Michael Carroll and one grandson: Nathan Slepecki and sisters and brothers: Jean Beyer, Wayne Carroll, Pete Carroll, Willis Carroll (Bobo) and Floyd Carroll (Bushel).
