Dr.Shannon Elizabeth Powers
Miss Shannon Elizabeth Powers, Ph.D, 32, of Ewing, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 2, 2011. Born in Trenton,Mercer County, New Jersey Shannon was a lifelong area resident. She graduated Valedictorian from Ewing High School in 1997, received her undergraduate degree from Juniata College in 2001, and her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Virginia in 2009. Shannon was recently employed by MedErgy in Yardley, Pa as a medical writer. Among other things Shannon was an avid reader, enjoyed going to the movies, hiking, ice skating, and brewing beer with her significant other, Jeff. Granddaughter of the late, John E. and Clementine G. Powers, and Charles E. "Buddy" Gregson; Shannon is survived by her parents, John and Carolyn (Gregson) Powers of Ewing; her brother and sister-in-law, Sean and Erin Powers of Hawthorne, N.J.; her maternal grandmother, Elsie Gregson of Lawrenceville; her significant other, Jeff Morse of Fords, N.J.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. The funeral was held Monday, August 8, 2011 at 9 AM from the Parkside Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home, 1584 Parkside Avenue, Ewing, N.J. 08638. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM at Incarnation Church, 1545 Pennington Rd., Ewing, N.J.. Burial followed in Ewing Cemetery, 78 Scotch Rd., Ewing, N.J. . Friends and family called on Sunday from 5-8 PM at the Parkside Brenna-Cellini Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Incarnation-St. James Church, 1545 Pennington Rd., Ewing, N.J. 08618 or to the charity of the donor's choice in her name.
