He was a retired foreman of the Wilmington Department of Public Works and a veteran of World War I.
He was a member of Eureka Lodge No. 23, AF&AM.
He was the husband of the late Mrs. Jean B. Jones, who died in 1964.
Mr. Jones is survived by two sons, John R Jr. of Roselle and William R. of Henry Clay; five grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Mary Boyer of Wilmington.
Services will be Monday afternoon at 1 at the McCrery Funeral Home, 2700 Washington St., where friends may call tomorrow night. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
