Blondell Slaughter Wright, 83, of Collinsville, passed away Thursday February 15, 2018 at Haven of Rest in Ridgeway. She was born May 19, 1934 in Patrick County to the late Luther E. and Susie Conner Slaughter. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Jack Wright in 2015; one son, Douglas Wright; four brothers, Wayne, Wacho, Lestelle, and Waitman Slaughter; and four sisters, Pauline Martin, Edgena Goard, Juanita Cline, and Hertha Hetrick.

Blondell was a member of Lighthouse Church of the Brethren, graduated from Woolwine High School, Class of 1952, worked at DuPont, and was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, David Wright of Mechanicsville, Va.; one brother and spouse, Eldred and Jan Slaughter of Staunton, Va.; one sister in law, Betty Lou Morris of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Daniel Wright, Evan Wright, Christopher Wright and wife Manuela, and Tyler Wright. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Haven of Rest, and Mountain Valley Hospice for the care and compassion toward Blondell and the family.

Her funeral service will be Monday February 19, 2018 at 1 p.m. in the Roselawn Chapel with Pastor Ann Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Monday in the Roselawn Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lighthouse Church of the Brethren, 7780 Willowbranch Road, Boones Mill, VA. 24065.
