LaVerne (Jim) Brown, of Smithville Mo., and formerly of North Platte, NE died Feb 16, 2017 at his home. He was born June 27, 1940 at Ogallala, Ne. Jim grew up in the North Platte children's home. In his early teens, he worked for several local ranchers. In 1960, he joined the US Navy, after the service he returned to North Platte where he started his truck driving career for over 50 years. Ending his career by retiring from Penske Logistics in June 2015. On April 18, 1968, he was united in marriage to Donna Diane Roethemeyer. Together they perused his trucking career through different states. Having one son born in Oregon, and second son born in Nebraska, followed by a daughter born in Nebraska. Eventually settling in the Kansas City area. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Bonner Springs in 1988 and rebaptizing his faith Jan. 2018, at King of Kings Church, in Kansas City MO. His faith in Christ Jesus made his strong. He was preceded in death his mother, Violet. His passing leaves behind his wife Donna, 2 sons Michael (Stacey) of Largo Florida, and David of Kansas city, Mo., daughter Susan (Sean) Parish. 2 grandsons Hunter and Tanner Parish. 2 Granddaughters, Taylar (Schaffer Powell) and Braylee Brown. Great grandson Rhett Powell. Services will be 11 am Wednesday, February 22, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in care of arrangements.
