Don Rex Dixon, 82, of Sparta, died Nov. 18, 2015. He was born Oct. 11, 1933, in Myrtle, Arkansas, the son of Louis Wilson Dixon and Ida Matilda (Marshall) Dixon. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force. On Oct. 11, 1956, he and Joyce Zintz were united in marriage. Joyce preceded Don in death in 1998, after 42 years of marriage. Don was a long-time farmer. Throughout his working career, he also worked as a carpenter. In his spare time, Don whittled and was a very accomplished carver. He made many cowboy themed carvings for others to enjoy. He enjoyed his family and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include four children and their spouses, Bill and Gladys Dixon of Urbana, Matthew and Carin Dixon of Cainsville, Jackie and Benny McPherson of Ozark and David and Regina Dixon of Ozark; nine grandchildren, Tasha, Billie, Zack, Padriac, Cailin, Daniel, Troy, Abby and David Andrew; several step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
