Table Grove- Phyllis Frances Baily, 92, died at 10:45 PM Sunday February 11, 2018, after a long illness, in New Haven, Missouri.

Phyllis was born in St. Louis, MO; October 4, 1925. She was the daughter of Hammond and Frances (Orchard) Baily. Hammond was a former resident of the Table Grove, IL; area who became a well-known band leader in the 1920’s and 30’s having played with his orchestra at the opening of the Starlight Roof at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel in St. Louis, MO.

Phyllis is the granddaughter of William and Elizabeth Baily also of the Table Grove area. William Baily was a high school football coach. Phyllis is survived by one son, Eric M. Schindling. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Rob R. Schindling.

Phyllis was born in St. Louis and attended both private and public schools graduating from Soldan High School. She attended college at the University of Missouri; Columbia, MO. Phyllis married Second Lieutenant Robert C. Schindling at Leavenworth, KS; November 1948. The couple traveled with the military to Panama, Japan, and Alaska as well as other parts of the United States.

Phyllis was active in Little Theater and served as Cub Scout Den Mother. She was a judge in the Miss Alaska contest 1961. A lover of music of all types and gifted with a lovely high soprano voice she sang in choirs all her life and also played piano beautifully. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church USA.

A graveside service will be held at 12 noon Saturday February 24th at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at henrylange.com.
