James (Jim) Richardson, 59, Boise, ID
The world lost a great man when Jim Richardson died after a four year long battle with cancer. Jim was born in Lewiston, ID. His family soon moved down to Boise, where he spent his entire life. He loved this great state and was proud to be an Idaho native. He had an intense appreciation for the mountains, the rivers, and high desert that surrounded him. Jim was greatly influenced by the love and guidance of a large family. This is where the foundation was laid for his passion of outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, camping, and motorcycles. All of these activities continued to be a great part of his life until the very end. Jim had many wonderful memories of family excursions alongside his mom, Emy, his dad, Larry, and his younger brothers Dan and John. He was later lucky enough to develop loving bonds and friendships with his birth father, Leonard, and a welcoming extended family. This enriched Jim's life greatly.
Jim worked most of his life in the plumbing industry where he established lifelong friendships and connections that remain to this day. Those friendships he treasured and spoke of often. The job that he was most proud of, however, was that of being a father. Jim's world expanded beyond belief when Jake and Dani joined his life. He was proud to be the dad that the kids and their friends wanted to be around. That was more than OK with him as it gave him the opportunity to keep an eye on things. Jim's style was strong, tough and fair. He was a simple straight shooter, firm but always gentle in heart and spirit. He did an impressive job of relating to and understanding others of all ages. Jim's garage door was often open which meant friends, family and neighbors were welcome to stop. Everyone that was blessed to call Jim a friend came away a better person because of it.
Jim was lucky enough to have two wonderful women share his life. Shelly sharing the earlier chapters with Jim and raising their kids together. Teresa sharing the later chapters with him full of adventure and family love. The loss of his son Jake created a bond between all that would remain strong to this day. Soon the clouds parted and two rays of sunshine blessed his life with the births of his grandchildren Vincent and Layla. There was never a more proud Poppy than Jim with his grandbabies. It was very important to him that his children and grandchildren grasped the value of a family bond. In times of celebration and struggle that bond was always present.
Jim was preceded in death by his fathers Larry Richardson & Leonard Wood, his brother John Richardson, and his son Jacob Richardson.
He is survived by his wife Teresa Richardson, mother Emy Lou Volkers and her husband Ray, daughter Danielle Richardson and grandchildren Vincent and Layla, brothers, Dan Richardson and his wife Lucy, Sean Wood and his wife Melissa, sister Schelle Burdg and her husband Craig and step mother Donna Wood.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11:30 a.m., at the Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, 5400 Fairview Ave., Boise.
