Ellis Wllie Skaggs, 87, passed away June 22, 2015 in Lake Havasu City. He was born Sept. 1, 1927 in Anadarko, Okla.

Ellis was a man with many facets. He could be funny, stern, generous and opinionated. While he liked things done his way, he would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it.

He joined the Army before he was legally old enough to do so and told many stories of how “he did it his way”. Ellis was a plumber by trade and spent many years in this field. In 2010, he was honored with a few others by the Plumbers & Steamfitters Union Local 398 as a member with more than 50 years of service.

He loved sports, particularly baseball, football and horse racing. He coached Little League when the kids were young. He owned a racehorse for a while but found it wasn’t a lucrative pastime. Hunting with his brothers and other family members was one of his great passions.

He and Marge spent a lot of time camping and boating. Love of these activities, were passed on to their kids. Ellis loved all his grandkids but was partial to the unruly ones, as they reminded him of himself as a boy.

Ellis is survived by his wife, Margaret Skaggs of Lake Havasu City; sons, Robert Skaggs and Al and Doug Bartolotti; daughter, Teresa Daivs-Franklin; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday at Lake Havasu Mortuary Chapel with full military honors presented by the VFW. Burial will follow at Havasu Memorial Gardens with the Patriot Riders assisting the motorcade to the Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Lake Havasu Mortuary & Crematory, 2225 N. Kiowa Blvd.
