Judy was born September 4, 1941 in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Weidhuner) Dye. Judy’s father died when she was very young and her mother later married Robert Durham, the man she would lovingly know as dad. On June 6, 1959 Judy married her soul mate and the love of her life, James Dale Duncan, and their love, respect and admiration for one another was evident to everyone. Jim preceded her in death on March 23, 2017. She is survived by a devoted and loving family including her children, Jim Duncan and wife Angie of Lynville, Kentucky, Kirk Duncan and wife Jollon of Beason, Illinois, Mike Duncan and wife Lynn of Manchester, Tennessee and Justine Dillon and husband Neal of Charleston; twelve grandchildren, Cole (Sarah) Duncan, Seth (Elisabeth) Duncan, Mariah (Andrew) Morgan, Karmalisha Duncan, Royce Duncan and fiancé Samantha Brown, Stephen Duncan, Antoinette (Jaron) Davis, Julia Duncan, Landon Duncan, Jacey Dillon, Nicholas Dillon and Brady Dillon; her 11 great-grandchildren, Emma, Ellie, Gia, Brooklyn, Branson, Wyatt, Sawyer, Isaiah, Olivia, Aleyah, Kyler and another on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Whittington of South Carolina and her nephew, Ruben Royer, his wife Leann and their children Emily, Becca and Brandon, all of Oakland, Illinois. In addition to her parents, stepfather, and husband, Judy was preceded by a son, Stephen Dale Duncan.

Judy was a graduate of Greenview High School. She was not only a longtime member of the Charleston Community Church family but also served as their church secretary for 20 years.

Judy had a knack for decorating and loved antiquing and flea markets in search of items to assist with her décor. As the matriarch, her devotion to her family as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt was beyond compare. She looked forward to organizing fun family events to strengthen the family bonds that were so important to her. Judy lived life with a servant’s heart, always putting others before herself. She was selfless and her compassion, love and concern for others was enduring. She always strived to live a Christian life and to share with others the goodness and love of God. Judy and Jim are now together forever sharing a love that was so unique and an example for everyone.
