Eddie Lee (Ashby) Farthing Vize

After a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, Eddie Lee Vize passed away on February 13, 2018 in Delray Beach, Florida, where she lived the past eleven years. She was born Eddie Lee Ashby on August 31, 1931 in Evansville, Indiana. She was married to A. Wayne Farthing for 30 years and together they raised two children. Eddie Lee was a 30-year employee of Bristol-Myers Squibb. Later in life she married Dr. Clyde William Vize and relocated to Indianapolis. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and a member of Captain Henry Vanderburgh Chapter, National Association Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a graduate of Central High School.

Mrs. Vize is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Farthing Stern and Judge Kenneth D. Stern of Delray Beach Florida; her son and daughter-in-law, Phillip W. Farthing, M.D., J.D., and Laurie Scott Farthing of Safety Harbor, Florida; step-son Gary E. Vize, M.D., of Detroit, Michigan, as well as four grandchildren: Laurie Roberts Myers of O’Fallon, Missouri; Michelle B. Reilly of Henderson, Nevada, Michael Scott Farthing, M.D., of Indianapolis, Indiana and Alexandra Scott Farthing of Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was also the very proud great-grandmother (Nanny) to Michelle’s children, Karlee and Maximus Miannay and Laurie’s children, Elise, Claire and John Myers. She is also survived by her cousin, Gloria Sullivan and many nieces, nephews, and greats as well.

A memorial service will be held at Pierre Funeral Chapel, 2601 W. Franklin Street in the Spring. Mrs. Vize’s ashes will be interred at Alexander Memorial Cemetery, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, at that time.
