A. K. Ralph Dies; Assistant Secretary Of DuPont Co.
Alfred Kinsman Ralph, 56, and assistant secretary of the Du Pont Co. and secretary to is board of benefits and pensions, died Saturday night at his home, 206 Pinehurst Road, Fairfax. He has not been ill.
Mr. Ralph started with the company as an office boy in 1927.
He served in the infantry and saw combat duty in the Philippines, where he attained the rank of captain in World War II. He remained in the active military reserves for many years after the war, attaining the rank of major before his retirement.
Mr. Ralph returned to the Du Pont Co. in 1946 and was named an assistant secretary of the company in 1961.
Mr. Ralph was born in Laurel. Whe he was 6 years old, he moved to Wilmington, where he attended Wilmington High School and Goldey Beacom Junior College.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret S. Ralph; whom he married in 1959; a son, Jay I. of Rolling Green; a stepson, R. Stevenson Grant of Baltimore; his former wife, Mrs. Anne Jefferis Ralph of Wilmington; four sisters, Mrs. Mabel Hearne of Delmar, Mrs. Elizabeth Betts of Millsboro and Mrs. Emma Ziegler and Miss Catherine Ralph, both of Wilmington; and three grandchildren.
Services will be tomorrow afternoon at 2 at the McCrery Funeral Home, 2700 Washington St. There will be no viewing. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be sent to the Calvary Church of Wilmington, 1411 W. 4th St.
