Donald C. Berger, 88 of Wellsville, passed away at the home of his daughter, where he was being cared for in Alliance on Friday, February 16, 2018. He had been struggling with a difficult battle with cancer.
Born in Alliance on February 15, 1930, he was a son of the late Roy E. and Bernadette Gulling Berger.
Don retired as the manager of the East Liverpool River Rail terminal in 1992 and as a truck driver for Midway Oil in 2001. He was Catholic by faith. Don proudly served his country, spending 13 months in Korea during the Korean Conflict with the US Marines. He was a lifetime member of National VFW.
Preceding Don in death was his wife, Norma J. Mason Berger in 1986, his sisters, Joyce Brown and Eileen Morrison, his brother, Wilbur Berger, and his former companion, Jean Hargraves.
Surviving is his children, Cynthia Smith and her husband Brian with whom he had been residing in Alliance, Terry Berger of Lisbon, and Michael Berger of Lake Milton, OH. In addition, his brother, Charles Berger of New Franklin, OH., Seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren also survive.
Private interment will be at the Highlandtown Cemetery. The Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester has been entrusted with these arrangement.
