Sachie Shiki Kano, beloved, thoughtful, and generous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt passed away peacefully on February 15, 2018.

She was born in Hooper, Utah, on May 7, 1922 to Tsunemichi and Masa Morio; Masa did not survive the complications of childbirth.

Sachie was adopted by Kenzo and Mitsuyo Shiki on February 23, 1923. She was educated in Weber County Schools and graduated from Weber High School.

Sachie was a member of the Ogden Buddhist Church.

She married “her buddy”, George Toshio Kano, on February 12, 1947 in the Salt Lake Buddhist Temple.

Sachie lived in her own home, took care of her beautiful yard, and drove her car until December of 2016. She was fortunate and grateful to have the unlimited assistance and care that her daughter, Shana, selflessly gave. She loved her very close and thoughtful extended family, dogs, flowers, and her lifelong friends and neighbors, and going to Sunday breakfast with Mark.

Many thanks, to Lisa and Kenzi, who lovingly cared for Sachie during the past year. Sachie was also grateful for the love and attention given her by all of her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren.

Sachie is survived by her three daughters and two sons, Shirley (Bob) Farr, Salt Lake City; Kent (Jane) Kano, Denver, CO; Shana (Gene) Shimizu, Roy; Mark (Becky) Kano, Kaysville; and Lisa Joko, Salt Lake City; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren with two on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

Per Sachie’s wishes, a private service was held for immediate family. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.

Find A Grave Memorial# 143337188 is her biological mother.
