Manitowoc - James Henry Alecksen, age 64, of Manitowoc, died early Tuesday morning, February 13, 2018, in peace, joined in Heaven with family: Mother and Father, Ruth and Vernon Alecksen, brother David, sisters Karen and Elissa.

He is survived by two sisters Cheryl and Beth. James was born in Manitowoc, the 6th of 6 children. James was a beautiful spirit. He gave hugs and smiles to all he met. God gave us a true gift in our lives. He will be truly missed by his other family, Newport Group home where he was loved and cared for, for over 20 years. He was a unique person and touched the lives of all who knew him and will be deeply missed especially by his extended family: Scott, Curt, Dana, Sophia, Grant, Sydne, Matt, Holland, Ty, Jordon, Brooklyn, Brooke, Asher, Nestor, Derek, Katie, Ben, Cristina, Andrew, Otto, John.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at First Lutheran Church Chapel, 521 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Roald Harswick will officiate with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in the spring. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday at the Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. with a luncheon following the service. Memorial donations can be made in James name to First Lutheran Church.
