- - Lonnie Jordan, 77, passed away unexpectedly on February 4, 2018. He was born in Mineral Springs, Arkansas on October 12, 1940 to mother Christina Conway and raised by parents; Lonzo and Rebecca Griffin Jordan. Lonnie graduated from Sevier County High School in Lockesburg, Arkansas. He later served in the US Army and the Indiana National Guard.
Lonnie married Bessie Lewis on January 12, 1974 and they celebrated 44 wonderful years. He retired from Indiana Wire and Steel after 32 years of service. Lonnie was a member of Berea Apostolic Church as well as several local committees and boards. He had a passion for studying Black History particularly local and biblical. He authored portions of the book "The Other Side of Middletown" and was instrumental in restoration of the Freedom Bus. Lonnie also enjoyed traveling and had an extensive stamp and coin collection.
His memory will be forever cherished by his wife; Bessie Jordan, two daughters; Toshal Gauthier (Lamar) and Lontissa Jordan, a grandson; Johnathan Gauthier, Jr., brothers; Charlie D. Jordan (Katherine), George Jordan, Frank Jordan; sisters; Mary Edwards and Mamie (Joe) Pace and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Chester Jordan and a sister, Sedalia Jordan.
Services to celebrate his life will be held at noon, Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Gholar & Gholar Funeral Home, 900 Kirby Avenue with Bishop Renzie Abram officiating. Family visitation will be at 11:00am.
