She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Walters; son, Victor Joseph Parker, Jr.; her parents; her brothers, Ralph and Olin Windle; and sisters, Jeweleen Burkhalter, Genna Billings and Laura Poole.
Dot was born November 19, 1932 in Pickens County, Alabama to the late Cole Windle and Minnie Pate Windle. She grew up in Gordo and Carrollton and attended Carrollton High School where she was a cheerleader and active in school activities.
After graduating from Business College in Birmingham, she moved to Mobile where her sister, Jeweleen Burkhalter lived. There she began employment as Executive Secretary for an insurance company, managed an Employment Service, served as Customer Service representative at Alabama Gas Company, a job working directly with the public which she greatly enjoyed. Then she began what was to become her career in banking at First Alabama Bank in Mobile.
She moved back to Carrollton in 1971, and worked as a legal assistant at Curry & Kirk Attorneys and then at Gholson, Hicks & Nichols Law Firm in Columbus.
Moving to Tuscaloosa, Dot joined First Alabama Bank, which later became Regions, as Executive Secretary to a loan officer. From this position, she became personal secretary for Sam Faucett, President and CEO. She was later promoted to Assistant VP then to VP as a Commercial Loan Officer and retired in March 1996.
As a survivor of Breast Cancer, she has worked in and for the Relay for Life with American Heart and has been active in Chamber of Commerce Female Executives Group.
After retirement and moving to Reform, she became an active member of the Reform First United Methodist Church where she served as co-chairman of Senior Adult activities. She was also a member of the Carrollton Garden Club.
Pallbearers will be Mike Burkhalter, Norman Burkhalter, Ronnie Poole, Robert Billings, Kerry Windle, and Terry Walters.
The family wishes to express thanks to those who visited, called, sent cards or flowers or connected with her in any way and those who cared for her and helped to make her life enjoyable.
