He was born on Feb. 3, 1930, to the late Leo S. and Bernice (George) Barge.
Paul was a retired welder from Minster Machine. He was a member of the United States Army serving in the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the AM Vets Post 66, a member of the VFW in Versailles, a graduate of Versailles High School and was an avid outdoorsman and gardener.
He is survived by his children, Lola Eshman of Sidney, Mark and Rebecca Barge of Bradford, Gail and Ed McCoy of Tennessee, Matt and Julie Barge of Piqua, Mary Peaslee of California, John and Jodi Barge of Versailles, Carol and Andy Love of Virginia, Lisa and Dana Phillips of Sidney and Peggy Barge of Greenville; 24 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lester and Jessie Barge of Arizona and Jerome and Rosemary Barge of Middletown; sisters, Ruby Cool of Greenville and Barbara Griesez of Greenville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth JoAnn Barge, whom he married on May 1, 1954; son, Luke Barge; brothers, Dale, Wayne, George, Eldean and Lowell Barge; sisters, June Barge, Eileen Christian and Velma Thiebean.
A service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles.
Burial will take place in the St. Martin's Catholic Church Cemetery in Osgood.
Family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Darke County Veterans Association.
