Reverend Jackson was the son of George Jackson and Willie Mae Jackson. He received his formal education from the St Paul Church School in Cordele. In may 1985, he received a certificate from the Bryant Theological Seminary in Fitzgerald, Georgia. He later received a certificate from Dean Simmons under the certification program at Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia. He was employed with the Cordele Sash, Door & Lumber Company and the Crisp County Board of Education for many years. He was also a skilled carpenter and finished his working career as a self employed carpenter. He designed and built his own home. He joined the Greater Gum Creek Baptist Church at a young age, he was Ordained as a Deacon there in 1950. In 1959, he joined the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church where he taught the Young Adult Sunday School class.

He heard the "Call" to preach and received his license in May 1963, he was Ordained as a Minister in May 1964. His first sermon topic was "The Lord Will Provide". He Pastored many Churches including Mt Salem, St Luke and Old Corinth Baptist Churches of Sumter County, Georgia, Little Macedonia Baptist Church of Crisp County, Georgia, Davis Grove Baptist Church of Worth County, Georgia, St Mark and Evergreen Baptist Churches of Dooly County, Georgia, St Mark Baptist Church of Webster County, Georgia and Houston Mount Zion Baptist Church in Bonaire, Georgia which he Pastored for over 45 years.

He was a member of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc and the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia. He served as Vice Moderator for the Mt Zion Association Third District. In 2014, he was recognized for his 55 years of preaching and 51 years of pastoring. He received numerous awards and certifications during his preaching career and Ordained many Deacons and Ministers. Upon his retirement, he stated "I am retiring from pastoring, but never from preaching God's word".

On November 14, 1944 he married Mary Etta Pickens, they enjoyed 73 1/2 years of wedded bliss and had 7 children. He was preceded in death by one child that died at birth and 1 daughter, Diane Jackson Mumphrey.

3 Daughters: Ruby Jean Kitchen, Dorothy Westbrook(Deacon Odell) and Alice Faye Green.
2 Sons: Deacon Nathaniel A. Jackson Jr(Alene) and Rev James O. Jackson(Glenda).
9 Granddaughters: Santayan Chinkia Lewis, Devona Jackson, Venesia Daniels, Yeasia Bankston, Christina Jackson, Natalie Mosley(Torey), Nate' Adams, Kamisha Green and Zantae McCrae.
5 Grandsons: Fabien Brion Mumphrey, Jamal Jackson, Jason Jackson, Temarke Westbrook and Quentin McKenzie.
2 Brothers-In-Law: Samuel Pickens and Eddie James Pickens.
2 Sisters-In-Law: Allene Smith(Rev Tom) and Emma Burney.
3 Special Cousins: Lottie B. Pickens, James Walter Jackson(Cherry) and Alma Williams.
5 Special Friends: Deacon Curtis Jones, Reverend Clemmie Gaston, Deacon Jerry Parker, Deacon Edgar Lester and David Williams.

Services were held Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 1PM in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church (Thrive Church) in Cordele, Georgia with Dr K. M. Williams officiating and Rev James O. Jackson eulogist .
