"When you pray things happen" Helen Marie Jarreau McGowan , native of Brooks, LA and resident of Prairieville, LA, went on to eternal life on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the age of 89. Helen was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church who cherished going to mass. She enjoyed sitting on the porch in her rocking chair, singing, and watching the birds. She valued her family and friends and was always the source of entertainment with her stories and laughter.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Patrick L. McGowan ; brother, Tom Jarreau; parents, Amelcar and Adele Jarreau; and sister, Doris Hampton.
She is survived by her son, Michael P. McGowan (Diane) ; daughters, Meg McGowan Fette (Andy) , Patty McGowan Williams and Mindy McGowan Bourgeois; sister, Loretta Jarreau Rhodes; brother, Donnie Jarreau; grandchildren, David "D.W." Williams, Reygan Valenti, Russell "Rusty" Simpson, Kelly Simpson Hoover, Terra Jorgensen, and Craig McGowan; and great grandchildren, Karter Simpson, Gage Hoover, Tyler Jorgensen, Trent Jorgensen, Sydney Jorgensen, Mayleigh McGowan, and Ila McGowan.
Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Thursday, February 15, 2018 beginning at 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, conducted by Rev. Jerry Martin. Interment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park.
Pallbearers: Stanley Hampton, D.W. Williams, Craig McGowan, Mark Bertinot, Rusty Simpson, Trent Jorgensen, Chuck Jorgensen, and Gage Hoover.
