Bernard Anderson, 93, of Kankakee, IL, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at River North of Bradley Health and Rehabilitation. Visitation will be Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 2:00 until 5:00 P. M. at Lax Mortuary and again on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12:00 noon at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 298 S. Harrison Avenue, Kankakee. Reverend Israel Anchan will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Bernard Anderson was born November 28, 1924 in Limestone, IL to Warren and Laura Gladu Anderson.
Mr. Anderson had worked for Kroeler in Bradley and for Electro-Motive, a Division of General Motors. He also started his own company, B & W Construction and worked for the City of Kankakee as a building inspector.
He was united in marriage to the former Colleen Uthe on November 10, 1984. His first wife, Evadine DeWeese Anderson preceded him in death on June 21, 1982.
He liked people and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, canning, reading, painting and repurposing furniture.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Colleen Anderson of Kankakee, IL; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bernard Jr. and Carol Anderson of San Antonio, TX, James and Mary Anderson of Marble Falls, TX and Michael and Jane Anderson of O’Brien, FL; two daughters, Kaylyn Anderson and Laura Anderson, both of San Antonio, TX; one brother, Paul Anderson of Arkansas; in-laws, Donald and Janice Uthe of Ames, IA and Janet and Rex Ramsay of Clive, IA; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
