Wayne Stevens, age 99, of Lee's Summit, MO, passed away February 13, 2018. Visitation at 9AM on Saturday, Feb. 17, at Floral Hills Funeral Home with funeral at 10AM. Burial at Floral Hills East, Lee's Summit.
Wayne was born May 6, 1918, in Enid, Oklahoma, to John & Cora Stevens. He was the youngest of 5 children, all of whom preceded him in death. In 1940, Wayne married Faye Cash, and they enjoyed 77 years together. He was also a devoted father to his daughter Nancy. Wayne served in the Army as an auto mechanic stationed in Hawaii.
While living in Lawrence, he was a member of the Eagles lodge. Wayne was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church. For 38 years, he worked as a mechanic at Broadway Ford. His favorite hobby was fishing. He also enjoyed hunting with his grandsons and nephew, camping with family and friends, and woodworking. He was a skilled gardener, growing many types of flowers. He always had candy kisses to share with his grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife Faye Stevens; dear daughter Nancy Voelker; cherished grandsons Ronnie Voelker and Mike (Elaine) Voelker; treasured great grandchildren Shai, Cody, Dakota, Zack, and Sarah; and adored great great grandsons Lucas and Samuel.
