Marie Wood
Marie Isabelle Tennyson Wood (Age 97) passed away of natural causes at home on Sunday February 11th, 2018. Marie, the youngest of six children, was born in 1920 in Emmett, Idaho to Elliott Tennyson and Marie Bischoff Tennyson. After she graduated from Boise High School, Marie worked for the Army Air Corp at Gowen Field. She later met the love of her life, Harlyn Wood, while he was in Boise on military leave, and they married on September 2, 1945. Their son, Harlyn Junior "Corky" Wood was born in 1952. Marie worked for many years as both a bookkeeper at Harlyn's motorcycle shops and for insurance companies in Boise. Marie and Harlyn shared a passion for motorcycles and rode together across the Northwest. In their retirement years Marie and Harlyn continued their love of travel, crossing the U.S. in their motor home. Inevitably, their hearts always brought them back to the ranch that they called home in Horse Shoe Bend, Idaho. Marie lovingly cared for the many animals on their ranch as well as continuing her enthusiasm for horseback riding. During Marie's life she was an active member of the Western Riding Club and the Idaho Mule Association. During their later years both Marie and Harlyn were active in the Senior Center in Horseshoe Bend.
Marie is preceded in death by her father and mother; four brothers and sister; and the two brightest lights in her life: her husband Harlyn and son Corky. She is survived by her grandchildren Brenda and Mike, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored her.
A graveside service will be held at Pioneer Cemetery (Horseshoe Bend) on Monday, February 19th, at 2:00 pm. Casket bearers are to be John Moroney, Jacob Tshida, Mike Hefener, Mike Wood, Ryan Hanson, Jerry Betchan and Rex Lanham (honorary). The family would like to express their gratitude to lifelong family friend, Jerry Betchan, who looked after Marie in her final years as well as our gratitude to the kind and gentle health professionals whose care allowed Marie to live out the last of her days in the home that she loved. A special thanks to Annabelle, the Pekingese, who comforted Marie in her final hours.
