Morris Dewayne Custer of Christoval, Texas passed away on February 12, 2018 at the age of 92. He was born in Grainola, OK on June 29, 1925. Morris served in the Army during WWII and again in the Korean War. He retired after a long career with General Electric Company as a salesman in their Medical Systems Division and was active in the Christoval Community Chamber volunteering his time and expertise in a variety of projects. A jack of all trades and master of many, Morris loved to help others and was an amazing example of how to be giving of his time, knowledge and skills to anyone who was in need. He enriched the lives of all who knew him and his passing left shoes that are impossible to fill. One of his passions was to keep old equipment running beyond its normal useful life. He was the master at “Custerizing” whatever was broken to get it going again. This passion was most readily visible in his restoration of his 1914 Case Tractor that he displayed at numerous tractor shows and parades taking along his antique Hit and Miss Engine that he had restored and converted into a homemade ice cream churn creating long lines to get a taste of his free ice cream. Morris is survived by his wife of 40 years, Shirley Ann Custer, one brother – Warren Custer, 5 sons – Vic, Chuck, and Mark Custer and Dale and David Teague, one daughter – Patti Koehl and a whole slew of nieces, nephews, grandkids, great grandkids and great-great- grandkids. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Glenn Dorah Custer and George Lebbius Custer; his brothers Orval, Harley, Merle and Glen; his sisters Laura Harris, Ruby Williams and Naoma Maze; and his daughter Pamela Teague. Morris was a true man’s man and a true patriot who loved God, country and family. He will be truly missed. Services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home at 435 West Beauregard Ave in San Angelo. Viewing on Friday, February 16 throughout the day with the family in attendance from 6 to 8 pm. Memorial service on Saturday, February 17 at 2 pm.
