Steven “Steve” Paul Duncan, age 54, of Gastonia, was a son to Rachel Broome Duncan and the late Semer Paul Duncan.
Steven retired from the Gastonia Police Department as Captain with 30 years of service. Among his many achievements, certifications, and accomplishments, he was an original member of the Gastonia Police SWAT Team and later the SWAT Team Commander, graduate of the FBI National Academy, an NRA shotgun and firearms instructor, trained instructors for the NC Justice Academy, vice chairman of the Gaston Young Guns Shooting Sports, former Jr. Director of the NC Skeet Shooting Association. Steven developed and implemented the Sniper Conference bringing business to the Gastonia area, and was State Director of NC Youth Education Shooting Sports. He instructed marksmanship training for Homeland Security. Steven was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church where he was head of security.
