Harold Douglas Wells, 79, husband of Frances (Fran) Howard Wells, passed away peacefully at his home in Georgetown, KY on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. He was born November 5, 1938 in Estill County, KY to the late Otis and Mae (Goosey) Wells. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Carol Cox Haney, brothers-in-law Delbert Sanders, Perkins Campbell, Estill Howard and John Witt, sisters-in-law Cleda Howard Campbell and Marie Howard Witt, nephews Jerry Campbell, Jason Cox and Rick Sanders.
He served four years in the US Navy based in sunny California, retired from the Exide Corporation in Richmond, KY and spent his retirement years enjoying time with his family, fishing, playing horseshoes, fixing anything that was broken, picnicking by Elkhorn Creek, or just sitting around visiting over a cup of coffee and a donut. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 56 years, Fran, a loving and proud father to his children, Harold Douglas II (Melinda) Wells and Stephanie Wells, and outstanding Papa to his grandchildren, Harold H Douglas Wells III (Susan), Anna Mae Wells, and Benjamin Alexander Wells. He was a loving brother to Barbara Sanders, Ed (Brenda) Wells, Janet (Randy) Turk, Steve (Ann) Wells, Kay Clark, and Vicky (Jody) Courtney. He treasured and was treasured by his many nephews and nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Wells officiating. Family and friends may visit together on February 17th, from 2-4 P.M. followed by the Memorial Service at 4:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bluegrass Hospice Care, Alzheimer's Association or Scott County Animal Shelter.
