He was the pastor of Mountain View General Baptist church where he had been for the past 10 years. He was the pastor of churches in Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas for over 25 years. He loved playing music and was a traveling professional musician before becoming a pastor. He enjoyed motorcycles and loved making people laugh. He was a jokester and a kind man. His father Rev. Benjamin Smith was the past district Superintendent of the Assembly of God Churches in Louisiana and his mother Mazelle Smith was also an ordained minister
He was proceeded in death by his parents Benjamin and Mazelle Smith, a brother Sgt. Harold E. Smith U. S. Army and two sisters Marie Patterson and Sybil McEwen and his adopted mother Nelda Young.
He is survived by his wife Lillian Carol Turner Smith of Mountain View, 2 daughters Carmen Smith of Dallas, Texas and Krystal Pinegar and husband Josh of Highlandville, Missouri, Carol’s children Jay Bean and wife Heather of Springfield, Missouri and Tammy Blevins and husband Lantze of Marietta, Oklahoma, nephew Ricky Patterson, nieces Karen Sizemore and Judy Yancy and grandchildren Trevor Pinegar, Ryan Pinegar, Natalie Pinegar, Madie Eckerson and husband Parker, Jacob Bean, Luke Bean, Jayleigh Blevins, Lily Blevins and Schuyler Blevins besides other relatives and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Mountain View Funeral Service from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. and funeral services will be in Mountain View Funeral Chapel on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. by Pastor Jay Bean. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery
