Virginia Ann Stephens, 85, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away February 12, 2018.
Virginia was born August 19, 1932 in Barnett, MO to Palmer and Eunice Blacksten. She was a graduate of Versailles High School. On June 24, 1951 she married Leroy Vencil (L.V.) Stephens and together they raised three children.
While L.V. was serving in the U.S. Army, Virginia moved to Kansas City and began her career with Sears Roebuck & Co where she continued until her retirement. In 1962, L.V. and Virginia moved their family to Raytown, MO where she resided until her death. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports, family vacations and her many trips with L.V. following their retirement. She was greatly loved by everyone who knew her. She was an active member of the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Kansas City as well as being an avid sports fan and particularly loved her Missouri Tigers basketball and Kansas City Royals.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Robert (Bob) and Billy. She is survived by sons, Danny (Debbie) and Randy (Barb); daughter Patricia (Bob); 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is survived by brother-in-laws, Ronnie (Candy), Howard and Lyle; and sister-in-laws; Marian, Louetta, Marie (Aldie), Lula and Kay.
Services for Virginia will be held Saturday, February 17 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd, Kansas City, MO 64138, with visitation to be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. and the funeral at 3:00 p.m. with burial to immediately follow at the Green Lawn Cemetery (adjacent to funeral home).
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
