J. Eugene P. Jorgensen, 97 of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018, in Lincoln. He was born October 17, 1920, in Moore, Montana, to J. Henry and Goldie (Chambers) Gwartney.

Eugene was a retired architect for the Army Corps of Engineers. He was a WWII veteran and a P.O.W. in Germany and received the Purple Heart.

Memberships include the V.F.W., East Lincoln Lodge #210, North Star Lodge #227, United American Lodge #819 in Frankfurt, Germany, Sesostris Shrine Greeter, Masonic Research Society, and Myrtle Chapter #94 O.E.S. Lifetime member of the Nebraska State Historical Society, UNL Alumni Assn. and a 40 year member of the Boys Scouts of America.

Family includes: children, Carol McKibbin, Alice Jorgensen & Sylvia Garcia, Peter & Kim Jorgensen; grandchildren, Michael McKibbin, Brent McKibbin, Rebecca Rose, Elanor Jorgensen, Rose Jorgensen; great-grandchildren, Zymmir Rose-McNeeLee, Zephyr Rose-McNeeLee, James McKibbin, Naomi McKibbin.

He was preceded in death by: parents; stepfather, Victor Jorgensen; wife, “Betty” Elizabeth Eberline Jorgensen; infant son, Eugene; and great-grandson, John McKibbin.

Funeral service Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Metcalf Funeral Home, Lincoln. Ashes interred at Lincoln Memorial Park.
