Herbert Elton "Raz" Thompson was born on January 17, 1924 to Herbert and Lillie Mae (Payne) Thompson in White Flat, OK.

Raz graduated high school from White Flat in 1941 where he was an exceptional athlete. Following graduation, Elton enlisted in the Navy and served during WWII.

After serving his country, he returned to Reed, OK to run the family dairy with his Dad until 1965. He continued to farm until he went to work for the US Postal Service in 1985. On November 20, 1947, he married the love of his life Joela McCullough in Wellington, TX. For the next 70 years they made their home in Reed. They had two sons, Terry Lee and Jerry Lynn. They attended the Sulphur Missionary Baptist Church of Reed.

Lovingly known as the mayor of Reed, he could always be found driving around checking out the scenery. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, watching the grandkids play ball, and riding his 4-wheeler until the age of 93.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sons; Jerry Lynn and Kent Elton.

He is survived by his wife Joela of the home, a son Terry and his wife Laurie of Reed, 4 granddaughters, Stefanie Smith and husband James, Corrie Cook, Kassi Thompson, and Taylor Thompson all of Mangum, 7 great grandchildren, Kyle, Ethan, Derrick, Clay, Madi, Allison and Alexa, and one great great granddaughter Payton.
