Jennifer Denise "Barner" Elliott, 44, of the 1800 block of Spar St., died Aug. 27, 2001, after a long illness at her residence.

Jennifer overcame many obstacles but she dealt with them with a smile. She was born in Portsmouth and was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School.

Jennifer is survived by her mother, Loretta Wilcox-Knight; stepfather, James Knight; a son, Barry Elliott Jr.; her sister, Cynthia Daughtry; stepbrother, James D. Knight; special cousin, Michael Barner; four half sisters, Burnetta Taylor, Yvonne Bynum, Jackie Stevenson, Tonya Robinson; two granddaughters; a special friend, Cecilia Smith; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Latonya Elliott.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Roosevelt Memorial Park with Pastor A.J. Barner officiating. The family will receive friends at 1800 Spar St., South Ahoy Acres. Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
