REV. FRANCIS A. CARDENAS - Gary, Indiana. Rev. Francis A. Cardenas age 68, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2010. He is survived by his brothers: Christopher (Sharon) Cardenas, Anthony (Carolyn) Cardenas and Michael (Sherry) Cardenas; sister, Margarita (Ray) Guerrero; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Penilla; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents: Antonio and Trinidad; brothers: David Penilla and Joseph Cardenas; sister, Teresa Cardenas; nephew, Christopher M. Cardenas. Francis was a graduate of Bishop Noll Institute and went on to Mt. Carmel Seminary. After his ordainment, he presided at St. Mary in Florida later becoming a Bishop. He retired from U.S. Steel after 30 years of service. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 22, 2010 7:00 PM at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN.
