Linda Lou Chaney, 75 of Reelsville, passed away as a result of injuries following an automobile accident the afternoon of Dec. 9, 2013.

Linda loved life. That is the best way to describe the way she lived. Not to say that hers was an easy life, but she made the most of it and savored every beautiful detail.

She was a caregiver, who was recently so proud of earning her certificate for care giving (CNA). She worked with clients who were in Hospice care and enjoyed sharing time with people in her care who had stories about their lives that she always found interesting.

Linda Lou Stigler Chaney was born Feb. 16, 1938 in Brazil, the daughter of Lynden and Pauline Stigler. She graduated with the Brazil High School, Class of 1954.

She had several jobs during her life, among which were secretary, hospital receptionist, state farm record keeper, semi-truck driver, catering and health care giver. She always worked joyfully at jobs that involved being around people. Linda never met a person with whom she couldn't carry on a conversation, no matter what. Her family often would comment that Linda never met a stranger.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, David Stigler in 2006.

Survivors include her children, Elizabeth Katherine Mayer, Paul Richard Chaney, and Heather Lynn Chaney; five grandchildren, Seth Berry, Brianna Hampton, Logan Chaney, Wesley Maher and Patience Rizzo; sister, Anna Long and husband Gary; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Stigler. Other surviving relatives include her aunt, Helen Weber Scherb and uncle Wilbur McClay and several nieces and nephews and cousins. Mildred Chaney and Margaret Simonson are also very special family also. Her special friend, Ron Cook, was an important part of the joy she experienced recently in her life.

One of Linda's favorite songs was "What a Wonderful World", by Louis

"Sachamo" Armstrong. It summed up how Linda felt about life. She saw beauty in every small detail, no matter how simple. She was a collector that hated to throw anything away in which she found some spark of beauty. This is not to say that she wouldn't share some of her treasures with others. She always delighted in finding just the right gift for a special friend or family member. We always would comment that Aunt Linda always found the best gifts.

In life, some of us are takers and some of us are givers. Linda was definitely a giver.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Poland Chapel church. Friends are invited to attend.
