Mr. Gerald Everette Bentley, Sr. age 75, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Caldwell County on June 7, 1942 to Pauline Greene Bentley and the late Malcolm Bentley. He is survived by his wife of more than 52 years, Brenda Benfield Bentley.
Mr. Bentley was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a licensed minister and loved studying and teaching God’s word so he could share with others. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hudson. In his spare time he enjoyed God’s beauty in the outdoors.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandy Bentley.
Other than his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Gerald Bentley, Jr. and wife, Anne; daughter, Suzy Plyler and husband, Danny; brother, Ronnie Bentley; brother in law, Bob Benfield; grandchildren, Tyler, Sadie and Mollie Bentley; Hunter and Grant Penley; Will, Drew and Bentley Plyler; and great-grandson, Jace Parker Bentley.
A celebration of Mr. Bentley’s life will be held at First Baptist Church of Hudson on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bud Russell and Pastor Paul Renfrow officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
