Bill played basketball while in high school, graduating from Altus in 1952. He spent 4 years in the US Navy, earning the distinction of Honor Recruit of Company 290 at the US Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, IL. Bill then joined the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (Academy 15) in 1958 and proudly served as an officer for 30 years, retiring in the rank of Major in 1988.
He spent his retirement enjoying a variety of activities, including woodworking projects in his shed, fishing, and keeping up with current events. Mostly, he loved spending time with his family, attending his grandchildren's school programs, band concerts, and dance recitals. His grandkids loved his quirky sense of humor and always laughed at his silly jokes and games.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sondra Douglas Pryor; son, William (Bill) Pryor Jr. and his wife Camille of Fairfax, VA; daughter, Carla Pryor Smith and her husband Steve of Yukon, OK; grandchildren, William, Joshua, Rachel, and Emily Pryor of VA, and Preston and Allison Smith of Yukon and one brother, John Pryor of Olustee, OK. He was also loved and adored by numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation service will be held 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, OK. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Honors will take place at 5:00 p.m.
