Elaine E. Edwards, age 82 of Stanton, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Laurels of Carson City.

She was born the daughter of Jess & Mabel (Lacy) Edwards on November 7, 1935 in Sheridan.

Elaine was one of two remaining siblings, having been preceded by her parents; nine brothers, William, Howard, Clayton, Mert, Donald, Duane, Harold, Kenny, Dale and three sisters; Opal, Maxine, and Lorraine.

Surviving Elaine is her son, Paul (Johanna) Strange, Lafayette, Colorado; granddaughters, Camille Strange and Vivian Strange both of Lafayette, Colorado; sister, Norma Bussell of Grand Haven; many nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law, Frances, Shirley, and Helen.

After graduating from the Sheridan Rural Agriculture school, Elaine joined the United States Navy and proudly served our country during the Korean Conflict. After working for 20+ years at the Louisiana State University Medical Center, Elaine moved back to Michigan and Montcalm County. In her retirement, she enjoyed assisting the Montcalm County ISD where she worked as an aide and later, she assisted two of her nieces, Amy and Jane at their business in Stanton. Elaine was also a member of the Sheridan VFW Post 5065, Stanton First Baptist Church, and the Eastern Stars. She enjoyed cats, reading western stories, and watching western movies on TV. Elaine will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Elaine’s life is being held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 2-4 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan where light refreshments and desserts will be served. You are invited to come and go as your schedule allows. Elaine will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery later in the spring.

For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Elaine’s memory the family suggests you direct them to either the Eastern Stars, White Pine District Library, or the Sheridan VFW. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home on Saturday.
